~WHEW~ Colorado has 4 seasons. Winter, Spring, Summer and Construction. Well, on my way home after getting some boba from my favorite place (yum), I ended up having to play dodge ball but with cars. So, Im driving down Andrews in Montbello heading west because I just got off of Cambers. Well there is this dirt field to the left and a semi truck with the trailer was pulling out. You know how semi trucks have to make wide turns? Well he was gonna be heading east, so he pulls out far to my side of the street so he can get more clearance for his trailer. Well he was just the perfect distance away from me to where I didnt have to slow down in order to allow him time to straighten up and be in his lane in order to pass him. So I kept my speed. (and it was kinda wasnt the speed limit) Anyway, there is this one street that comes out before where there truck was coming out from the right side that connects to the main street Im on. However, you cant just drive out onto the main road Im on because there is a stop sign. Well this one guy in this minivan that was driving on that street decided that reading his text message was more important than watching the road at that exact moment in his life. Then he just kind of ran the stop sign. And then realizing that he ran the stop sign, he then decides to slam on the brakes right in the middle of the street in my path. ~SIGH!!!~ really??? Freezing on the brakes will not always save you from trying to avoid an accident. He should have just kept going. He already ran it, and traffic was stopped on the other side due to the semi. That van completely messed up line and timing so I had to pull a few extra moves out of my butt in order to miss both vehicles because slamming on the brakes was not an option. My wheels would have locked and I would have slid straight into the van. So I had to pull out my"Bus Stop" technique. (For those of you that dont know what that is...... Good. You dont want to know.) Anyway I tapped the brakes to even out the weight of the car, stomped the gas and did a quick yank of the steering wheel to the left, let go of the gas go and turn the steering wheel to the right, then stomp the gas again and yank it hard left to counter steer, and then straighten out. If I were to just try to throw the steering wheel to the left, there would be a good chance that the back end of my car would have clipped the front of the van due to shifting the weight of the car so violently and so suddenly. And even if I did miss the van by doing that, I would have set myself up for failure and been in a horrible position to take on that semi as the last obstacle. The "Bus Stop" technique is like a last minute lane changing switch that allows you to manipulate the weight of the car in such a way to where when you shift the weight of the car while changing lanes, the whole car kind of just lifts up and the whole car moves as one and jumps and or slightly hovers over to the next lane while being straight. Its different from a standard cut. When you cut over, your car is at an angle and it throws all the weight to the back end casing it to swerve sometimes. Especially at high speeds. And since there was a semi pulling out from the left, trying to cut back to the right after I just cut to the left would have for sure made my back end slide out and it would have hit the semi. Especially on that loose sandy ground due to the constructions. So I had to pull a Double "Bus Stop" technique in order to avoid both vehicles. After doing it first time to avoid the van, it set me up perfectly to do it again to the right and avoid the semi and not lose control. ~Whew~ That was fun. What a drive. Its events like these that make my life somewhat interesting.
