WHITE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL FOREST INFO [RE: GOV. SHUTDOWN] Below is up to date information on the Kanc and the White Mountains National Forest, direct from the WMNF Supervisor: Due to the government shutdown: 1. Trails and pull-offs remain open in the National Forest. 2. Campgrounds and picnic areas remain open 3. Forest Recreation Passes: will not be required on the WMNF for the duration of the shutdown. All fee tubes have been closed. 4. Law enforcement personnel will remain stationed in the forest 5. Restrooms will not be available as there is no one to maintain them, so visitor should use restrooms at the State and local information centers spread throughout the White Mountains 6. The Ranger Stations (Saco, Androscoggin, Campton and Lincoln Woods) are closed. Visitor information is available at White Mountains Attractions Visitor Center, Chambers of Commerce, the AMC in Pinkham and Crawford Notch and the State Welcome Centers.
