WHO: Leon County WHAT: Prescribed burns to manage green spaces WHEN: Wednesday, January 14 through February 2015 WHERE: North of Interstate 10 on Miccosukee Greenway, areas within J.R. Alford Greenway, and areas of St. Marks Greenway, weather permitting As weather permits, Leon County Parks and Recreation will conduct prescribed burns north of Interstate 10 on the Miccosukee Greenway, in areas within the J.R. Alford Greenway and areas of the St. Marks Greenway. Burns will occur throughout January and February 2015. Prescribed fire is an important tool in Florida for managing the aesthetic values of natural landscapes in addition to managing fuels, wildlife habitat and native plant species. Leon County will be coordinating with the Florida Forest Service to complete and safely execute the burn plans.
