WHOM DO WE EMULATE AGAINST MOSES MAUANE KOTANE THE UNIFIER? Noble but Political Perspective - Vanguard Mokwena I happen to be most fortunate to be residing in Bojanala Region in Moses Kotane Province, and the fortunate part of it goes same as Qunu, Cofimvaba, Midlands and so on. Our region if not the entire province has rich history in politics not to mention its cream of leadership which tend to overlook. Having the brief insight of A View From Moscow which its a book I am longing to have permanently for conscious point of view, not to mention current talks between ANC and Russians for repatriations of Moses Kotane, JB Marks, and Ivor Jones which happens during the month of Heritage compels me to invite your attention to look at things differently as we on the journey to ANCYL National Conference and 2015 Provincial Conference of ANC both as delegates and activists. Amongst other things, Moses Kotane was honored with Seaparankwe/Isithwalandwe which many aspire to be honored with in the life of ANC and the question then arise as to it would be on merits or the outlooks of maintaining factional perspective? It is with no doubt that we still distant to the values he stood for and principle he died for. Moses Kotane he only got to attend formal schooling when he was 15yrs of age and by 17yrs he was exposed to harsh conditions of labour as a farm worker, domestic worker, waiter, baker and photographer. Despite all this he was consistence with Party Night School aimed at improving his literature and party ideological understanding. It was him again who joined ANC in 1927 which following year full active member of Communist Party of South Africa in 1928 which he never stopped learning to build on his quality character which we still distant with. Such goes beyond our interpretations, he remains one of the longest serving and active members of the ANC and General Secretary of the SACP for almost fifty years. Moses Kotane did not fear era of hertzog and internal party barriers regarding thesis over Native Republic, his character was exhibited during 1962 Lobatsi Conference, the first to be held under conditions of illegality. OR Tambo could only rely on him to work hand in hand with Chief Albert Luthuli for serious political resolves. He was a strong but great debater, and Marxist-Leninist Scholar which served best to analyze situation for the countrys interest. His assertion of The executive is a policy-making body which directs the activity of the membership, and you must choose the best man for the job irrespective of his color this ought to gauge our political understanding and the role we playing on daily basis in our respective society. We are understood to be in rebuilding process of ANCYL nor to shape the country for better life but such notion and practicals are marred with serious flaws which some are comfortable with status quo cause it boost their ego and act as big brothers above organization itself. Whilst on journeys to Gallagher lets not emulate anyone but Moses Kotane not because of the name but character which breeds cadres in our souls for a full blown political posture and great deeds of repositioning and rebranding of our Region and Province than face value concept where names of leadership are used for wrong reasons, and myopic narrow interest. Its now that I urge delegates and active members of the movement. Amongst Generation Which We Should Advance at Conference names are in Bojanala; 1) Mga Mokgatlhe - Moses Kotane 2) Senzo Ncongolo - Madibeng 3) Cde Babs - Rustenburg 4) Cde Lucky - Moretele Lets rather unite behind this names and integrate with other regions for unison mandate of our province and what Moses Kotane left us. I pause!
