WHY ATIKU ABUBAKAR SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM THE APC PRESIDENTIAL RACE - TopicsExpress

WHY ATIKU ABUBAKAR SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM THE APC PRESIDENTIAL RACE (DISCOURSE NO. 1) !. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, means many things to many people, some see him as a radical, a courageous, and a dogged fighter, while others see him as an opportunist, who through his brain and smartness has achieved greatness, and affluence. Two, or three things we can not miss about Atiku Abubakar; that, he is a controversial figure and a dogged fighter, is not in doubt, and that he is unarguably among the richest Nigerians standing today. Born on November 25,1946, he attended Jada primary school Yola between 1954-1960, Adamawa provincial school Yola between 1961-1965, and he attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he obtained a Diploma in law in 1969. He joined the Nigerian Customs in 1969. He retired as a Deputy Director of Customs in 1989 after having served for 20 years. Atiku Abubakar is in the league of wealthiest Nigerians who was said to have owns not less than 180 houses and choice buildings in Adamawa alone, and his mansion in Dubai was said to have been the only one standing in an island. His businesses are in several areas which include, but not limited to the following; Oil services, Education, Real estate, Agriculture, Communication etc. He started his active political career in 1990, a member/among the national leaders of SDP, and a close business and political associate of late Shehu Musa Yaradua. A founding member of the PDP in 1998. He was elected governor of Adamawa state in 1999, but before he was sworn-inn, Obasanjo made him his Presidential running mate, and in the same year became the Vice President of Nigeria (he served between 1999-2007). In 2007, he dumped the PDP, and decamped to the AC, for the simple reason that he was denied the right to vie for the PDP Presidential ticket, and became the Presidential aspirant of the AC, but only to return to the PDP in 2008 after having lost the election. In 2011, he contested for the Presidential ticket of the PDP along side the current Nigerian President, but was defeated. Only recently, he again defected from the PDP, and embraced the APC, again for no any reason, but to contest for the Presidency. One thing we can say of Atiku Abubakar on the political front is that he has an undying love for the Presidency. In other words, Atiku Abubakar desperately wants to be Nigerian President. However, looking at Atikus controversial past records as a former Vice President, and his alleged dirty/corrupt financial dealings, based on the report submitted to the Senate in 2005, by the then EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu, it is clear that, his (Atiku) desperation can not be said to be born out of patriotism, altruism, nationalism, or public interest. Rather, we can safely infer that, his endless and desperate quest to become Nigerias President is simply driven by self serving, and based on personal egoistic desire. In furtherance to his self seeking desire to contest the APC Presidential ticket along side Gen Muhammadu Buhari, and others, Atiku was reported to have leased a Jet for a woofing sum of $2.5million to prosecute his campaign. ATIKUS MORAL CROSS! a) as the Chairman of Obasanjos government National Privatization Council, which saw to the near-free dashing away of our collective national wealth and assets like NITEL, Pentascope etc; under the guise of sales, this proves that he can not be trusted as a President. Beside this, Atiku was further alleged to have abused the trust of his office ( as the chairman of national privatization council) for self enrichment. b) as the over sear of the PTDF, while a Vice President, Atiku was alleged to have embezzled hundreds of millions of Dollars of the PTDF fund.
