WHY DOES GOD ALLOW BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO A CHRISTAN?????? This one simple question can be a stumbling block to anyone who has experienced something ’bad’ in their life. The death of a loved one, a health issue, an accident, an injury, an abusive relationship, and the list goes on. We have all experienced some sort of trauma in our lives and usually we are left asking the question, why God? Why did this bad thing happen? The truth is God does allow ‘bad’ things to happen to us but he does not cause them. In fact quite the opposite. He knows our pain, he’s experienced it, he loves us and he promises to help us through it. Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” God does not ‘will’ that bad things to happen us, but rather they happen because we live in a fallen world that is corrupted by sin and led by the master of it, Satan himself. So then you might ask, if God does not cause the accident, or death, or whatever ‘bad’ thing happened, then why does he not step in and prevent it? And my answer is this. God has his reasons for intervening and not intervening in people’s lives. Sometimes He will step in and other times he does not. It’s not because you have done something wrong or are being punished, no, for God does not condemn us (John 3:17). It’s because Gods ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). He sees things from a different point of view then you or I. He knows the beginning from the end, our past and even our future. And he always has a plan in mind. Think about this for a moment. All of the disciples in the Bible went through trials and many died gruesome deaths for their belief in Christ, including: being stoned to death, beheaded, crucified, dragged, hanged and beaten, among other things. I would call all of these things ‘bad’. But you see, the disciples did not cast Christ aside and give up on him. No, they went to their deaths defending Christ and because of that many people came to the love and knowledge of Christ. Or how about God sending His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die a horrific death on the cross. If God allowed this to happen to his Son, then wouldn’t he allow us to go through trials and tribulations also? Yes he would! But you see, God always has a plan, even with His Son. He allowed the horrible death of Jesus in order that you and I could have the saving grace that we so freely share today. God knows that all things work together for good for those who love God (Romans 8:29). So praise you Lord for the death of your Son! What a blessing it was for us all! God has a reason for everything he does. Sometimes we go through trials because God wants to teach us something, other times its because he wants to bring us closer to Himself, and other times its because he knows something about the situation that we may not. We won’t always understand Gods ways, because ultimately, as I stated before, his ways are higher than ours and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He is not meant to be understood all the time. What we need to remember is that no matter the trials we are going through, God promises he will be there with us guiding us through. He will hold our hands in all situations, and He never lets us go it alone, NO! He is with us. He was with Jesus at the cross, He was with the disciples at their deaths, and He is with you and I too! We, however, must put our faith, hope and trust in Him, and know that he has a better plan in mind. Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” If your truly think about what you have just read, you will understand. It is not HIS will, but for the reasons given, above, you may now realize why these bad thing, happen for a reason. Out God is Love and only wants the best for us, and if we give him our best, our love, obedience and offer HIM the works of the talents He gives us and the fruit of the spirits shows through to others, and we walk the walk of a spirit-filled life, only His best is given to us, with some trials and tribulations, for our benefit...Bless you All, Pastor Eddie Green.....Admimistrator of the group...New Testament Analysis
