WHY SOUTH AFRICA IS NOT HAPPY WITH PRESIDENT GOODLUCK - TopicsExpress

WHY SOUTH AFRICA IS NOT HAPPY WITH PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN 1. For over 3 decades of misrule, Nigerias rating by the international community has been low. The worlds attention has been on so-called African giants like South Africa, Egypt and Ghana whenever issues on economic growth and good governance are being discussed. But all of a sudden, the magic hands of President Jonathan changed the tide beginning from 2010 till date. Through his well-crafted and implemented policies, programs and projects of Transformation Agenda, very laudable achievements have been and are still being made in all facets of life of our great country. Those within and outside Nigeria have given good testimonies of the ingenuity and commitment of President Jonathan in the transformation of his dear country. This has put Jonathan and Nigeria at an envious position to South Africa 2. The rebasing of Nigerian economy by world standard bodies to arrive at a GDP of $510bn has propelled Nigeria to the 1st largest economy in Africa and the 26th in the world. This feat is almost twice that of South Africa ($300bn), and has almost crippled or stagnated the economies of other African countries including South Africa because investment giants of the world are rushing to Nigeria like the waters of the sea. Hence, our foreign direct investments (fdi) has more than doubled and is the highest in Africa. South Africa, instead of rejoicing is not happy with this growth and with the man behind it. 3. Purchase of arms to prosecute war against terrorism requires high level secrecy. No matter the lapses (if any, as SA is apologising), it should have been handled secretly and respectfully by the SA and Nigerian govts, but SA blew it to the open prematurely before proper investigations. This low-level behavior of SA has embarassed Nigeria and exposed her armoury strength to the enemy that she is fighting. It is not a wish but should terrorism enter SA, she will not have the capacity to deal with it alone as Nigeria is doing. SA govt seems to have compromised its diplomatic relations for political reasons as it is being alleged that some APC leaders are personal friends to SA President Jacob Zuma. In fact, well meaning S/Africans are supposed to openly stage demonstrations against President Jacob Zuma for putting personal interest above the overall national interest of S/Africans. 4. When Ebola Virus Disease entered Nigeria in July 2014 by an evil Liberia diplomat, Patrick Sawyer, the developed world and even SA closed doors to Nigerians entering their countries. They had wildly concluded that the disease was simply going to wipeout the large Nigerian population because of their perceived Nigerias lack of capacity to deal with the disease. Very surprising to them, Nigeria tackled it swiftly, effectively, and comprehensively and today, even the world giant, America, is looking upto Nigeria for assistance with the recent outbreak of the disease in their country. For sure, SA cannot be happy with President Jonathan for this wonderful record. 5. SA has not been comfortable with Nigerias stance on the Gay issue in Africa and therefore waiting for an opportunity to undo Nigeria. My advice to SA is to join hands with President Jonathan and Nigeria to move Africa forward and not to be engulfed in petty jealousy. We both need one another. Afterall it was Nigeria and Nigerians that saved her from apartheid.
