WHY WE DONT PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT A kings heart is a water - TopicsExpress

WHY WE DONT PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT A kings heart is a water channel in the Lords hand; He directs it wherever He chooses (Proverbs 21:1). Memorize that verse. Youll be needing it. You will want to bring it out when your doubts tell you prayers for the president (and other high officials) dont work, that they seem to be ineffective. Doubt can be persistent. You will want to give that verse to friends who devote their time and energy to criticizing the president. Suggest that more prayer for the occupant of the White House might make him a better leader. ...the Lord had made them joyful, having changed the Assyrian kings attitude toward (the Jews) so that he supported them in the work of the house of the God in Israel (Ezra 6:22). Thats how it works. The Assyrian king was a despot. A hard-hearted lout for whom genocide was his mornings routine. And yet, God turned his heart. Scripture commands prayer for our national leaders. First of all then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority.... (I Timothy 2:1ff.) Our fears and doubts--these intruders who call at the door of every one of us, without exception--insist that this particular president is impervious to prayer (that prayer doesnt work with him). Fear is a liar and doubt is our enemy. No one is greater than God, and this makes the intercession of a faithful child of His the greatest force in the world. Satans job is to get us to doubt that. Hows he doing with you? Let us pray. Let us pray for the President of the United States, for his advisors, for the Supreme Court, and for Congress. Let us pray for our governor and legislature, for our city council and mayor. And for our churches and denominational leaders. Pray for your pastor. You will not see the results of your prayers until you get to Heaven. Thats why only people of faith will do such a thing and stay with it day after day through the years. Luke 18:8 is the big question, my friend. When the Son of Man (returns), will He find faith on earth?
