WIDE BAY WINTER SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013 A group of 13 Makos swimmers attended Wide Bay Short Course Championships held at Hervey Bay on the weekend of August 10th & 11th. It was a 2 day carnival finding the best short course swimmers of the region. The juniors of the group were all racing extremely hard, coming close to achieving their goals of competing at State Short Course at the end of the month. Kristen Harrison, Cameron Bertolla, Rose Breedt, Maia Liow, Alice Hermanns, Isabella Caldow all achieved plenty of PBs with some very strong performances. Charlotte Caldow competed in 50m events for the first time and coming away with amazing results. The seniors of the group showed their experience by winning a stack of medals, those included Jack Burnham, Lisa Breedt, Owen and Lani Pallister. Amongst those 4 swimmers they collected 8 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze for the club. Sarah Wallace won 3 silver medals from 3 races in the multiclass division and Cameron picked up silver in the 25m dash. Well done to all Makos for their efforts and parents for their hard work and cooperation over the weekend. We are very proud of your achievements and a big thank you to Michael too for some great coaching and support - even managing a couple of races himself - good job!
