WINDER PEOPLE, PLEASE FOLLOW ME ON THIS! THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW Two policemen at the center of the Winder Police Department’s alleged cheating scandal have filed grievances against the department in an effort to keep their jobs. Sgt. Randy Michael and Officer Joel Lovinggood filed the grievances last week. On Monday they were placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of their complaints, according to documents obtained from the city’s Human Resources Department. Both Michael and Lovinggood have worked for the department for more than a decade but have been unable to meet a physical agility standard that was implemented in September 2012. One of the cheating allegations under investigation by an attorney hired by the city is whether someone in the police department’s management altered the results of one or both officers’ agility tests. The other alleged cheating involves a corporal promotion test that was given in September. The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police developed the written test, and did not distribute advance copies to anyone at the police department. But sources say prior to oral interviews of patrol officers who passed that test, questions or topics to be covered in the interviews were left in plain sight of preferred candidates for promotion. The stakes are high in the outcome of the external investigation — namely the jobs of police chief Dennis Dorsey, Major Jim Fullington and Lt. Frank Farr, the uniform patrol commander. All three have been on paid administrative leave since Nov. 1. City administrator Don Toms said David Archer of the Cartersville law firm of Archer & Lovell P.C. is writing the report of his investigation’s findings and likely will submit it by the end of the week. Once the mayor and city council have privately reviewed the findings, they will meet in closed session to discuss them and to decide what actions to take regarding personnel, Toms said. The city’s grievance procedure for Michael and Lovinggood likely will be a multi-step process, starting with a hearing by a representative of the human resources and police departments. If the officers are not pleased by the outcome of those hearings, the next step will be to take the grievances to the city administrator and then to either the city’s personnel review board or to the full mayor and council. MY RESPONSE I cant believe that this already corrupt government, if you can call it a government, is ready to throw these 2 veterans of the force off of the force. Especially during the Holiday Season. You are meeting tonight and Mr. Michael and Mr. Lovinggood have a meeting with Crooked Toms Who actually, just came off suspension himself, tomorrow just because these men got older and maybe put on a little weight. THIS HAPPENS TO US ALL. For goodness sake, have you seen officers in the City of Atlanta or any other department, as far as that goes? Some of them it takes them several minutes to get their entire body out of the car. How are they going to help in a dramatic call? Does the City Of Winder offer any type of physical training for these cops who have served us for MORE that a decade, lets try 17 years to be accurate. I think it is a disgrace. Do you think this would be happening if Mayor Thompson was still in office? I would like to get his opinion on this. And what Mayor Maynard, what is your opinion? Where do you stand on this? This is a disgrace!! Its like having a Military vet coming back home from his tour of duty, and trying to fire him from his McDonalds job because he ate to many french fries. GET REAL! You dont take a mans lively hood because he puts on a few few pounds. Look at how long they have protected the citizens of winder, and now we want to throw them to the curb? GET WITH IT WINDER!! This is WRONG and you know it! I think the citizens know this! LETS TAKE A PUBLIC VOTE!!! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!! BE HONEST!
