WINDOW WASHERS FIGHT VIDEO Wow, didnt expect the video to go so viral. After something happens in our city generally Youth In Politics will investigate into it more and post here. So if you havent heard already there was a street fight outside a local motel in New Plymouth yesterday. What Youth In Politics understands is the man in the yellow was driving and said no to the window washers, swearing etc. The window washers got angry and retaliated. There just so happens to be two district Councillors at the scene just moments after this has happened to capture the teenagers getting angry. Murray Chong and Shaun Besiek. Decision comments: Somebody needs to mentor them and not provoke them into acting like this. Someone posted on another page Its like poking a dog with a stick until it bites you and then complaining and we totally agree. Judy Young posts Man in yellow tee shirt what a big sob story what gives you the right to assault some one by trying to break the guys fingers when he is being arrested this was a set up by the NPDC the window washers can wash my car windows any time When Judy Young talks about breaking the guy fingers if you go back to the attached video and go to 2:35 in the video youll see it there. However, Youth In Politics will always have a personal opinion, and that is, firstly, why did the man in the yellow feel the need to get out of his vehicle when he had a kid in the back of his car who he was putting at risk? He knew that he would get punched and insulted but he felt the need to get out? If it was me I would ave gone up the road, then called 111. Not putting a child at risk. I personally support window washing in our city, BUT, only if theyre respecting the drivers and the public. But this surely has to go both ways. The New Plymouth District Council will not be creating a new by-law because they say that it would make no effect, instead they say if you want them to go away just dont pay them. Window washing on our streets is not illegal in New Plymouth, however police can enforce the rule if there is a public disturbance on the roads because of it. There is however a rule on loitering ON the roads, but I dont think that would work. Carl Berryman commented Police didnt have to be so rough and that guy n yellow shud ov stayed in his car While mayoral candidate for the 2013 election Chris Wilkes comments that he finds it suspicious of the fact that a leading advocate for their removal happened to be on hand to film the video. So where are the real jobs for young people like these guys??.. really they need training in public relations and a licence to opperate. The guy has a point, he needs to put food on the table and options are limited for unskilled youth today.. would we rather them committing crimes or being in jail?.. I think not. I am suspicious of the fact that a leading advocate for their removal happened to be on hand to film this. Also saying well done to a guy who got out of his vehicle and agressivly confronted this guy isnt helping. Simply getting rid of window washers does not solve the problems that their presence is reflective of. There are many in our community who are struggling to survive with increasing financial pressures and their options are very limited.. we need actual solutions for a positive outcome, sweeping them under the mat with an out of sight, out of mind mentality is not a solution. he said. Have your say on the window washers below. Do you support them, or do you not?
