WINDSHIELDS !!! Damage to windshields is common. Two ways to deal with it. REPAIR or REPLACE. Repairs are convenient and can be done on a mobile basis year round. If you have a bubble/star/short crack. Put CLEAR PACKING TAPE over the problem, to try and avoid it from spreading, and set up a repair ASAP !! Most insurance carriers will pay for the repair, if you have comprehensive coverage on your policy. REPLACE: Your airbags are designed to bounce off your windshield. The SEAL of your windshield is paramount for YOUR SAFETY !! It is MY OPINION, that the fit and finish will be better if the replacement is done IN A SHOP. The shop has extra hands available to seat the windshield, and the shop has a controlled temperature environment. If your windshield is LARGE, I would recommend the shop all year. In winter months, I would bring MY vehicle to a shop. THIS IS, again, MY OPINION. My concern is safety and airbags.
