WINNING EACH DAY DEVOTIONAL 2 Cor 2:14 And thanks be to God who ALWAYS causes us to triumph… July 23, 2014 KNOWING GOD Revelation 3:22 “He who has an ear, let Him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” We do not hear God with our physical ears. We hear with the ears on our inside. (Ephesians 1:18). Expect God to speak to your heart each time you want to hear Him. HOW TO HEAR GOD 1. The Word: The primary way God speaks to us is through His Word. (Hebrews 1:1-2). We know that the Word is Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, God has spoken to us. (John 1:1). There are two indications to the Word of God- the “logos” and the “rhema”. The logos is the written Word and the rhema is the spoken Word. “Rhema” is that Word that comes alive in your spirit when you’re studying the Bible. It’s that “one Word from God”. (John 6:63). There is an involvement of the Holy Spirit opening your understanding. (Luke 24:44-48). Before you study the Word, say: Holy Spirit, help me see myself in the Word! If you can be very attentive, God will speak to you using different channels. 2. Inward Witness or Inner Witness (Romans 8:14-16): Don’t expect God to be dramatic all the time (Acts 9). Most of the time, we miss out of the supernatural while expecting the spectacular. The spectacular is that side that involves the dramatic move of God. God wants you to be cool, calm, collected, yet receiving divine signals about your academics, relationship, marriage, job, finances (John 14:16-17). The way God guides you is through your spirit. Having the inward witness means that you’re led by the Holy Spirit as He bears witness with your spirit. CONFESSION: My eyes of understanding are opened. I know God personally and intimately! PRAYER: Holy Spirit, help me see myself in the Word! FURTHER READING: John 6:63, Luke 24:44-48, John 4:24, Prov. 20:27
