WINNING WISDOM DEVOTIONAL - TUESDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2013 - FAILURE IS JUST FERTILIZER “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 2 Corinthians 4:16,17 Scientist Thomas Edison knew failure. But he failed successfully. Failure couldnt discourage or stop him. Imagine ten thousand failed experiments! When his assistant got tired, discouraged and canvassed for an abandonment of the project, Edison told him, No, we have not failed ten thousand times, but have learnt ten thousand ways of not doing it. He then went on to stamp his name, forever indelibly, on the worlds hall of fame. Failure is not a tangible evidence of genetic inferiority. But failure can be a fatal blow to fragile egos. You need to understand that failure is only an indication of, may be, wrong methods, timing and sundry other factors. Hear me, the long failure tunnel eventually lead out to Success Boulevard. I was praying one day when I heard the Lord say to me, setback is actually ladder for setup. For a long time, I did not understand this powerful concept. But over a long time, I have received bits and pieces of revelations about this truth. I am sure that the day Apostle John was deported to the Island of Patmos, there was weeping and tears. To the early church, it was apparently a setback, to put it mildly. But the church would never have received the book of Revelation, detailing the last days events if that setback did not take place. Sometimes, the way up is down. Understanding that failure or setback is only temporary and not allowing it to diminish your enthusiasm and passion is very important. A ‘never say die’ spirit is truly the triumphant attitude. Whatever youre going through today, my counsel to you is - dont give up! Stay the course, keep trusting, keep trucking, the Lord will meet you halfway. NB: A.
