WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH EARLY MONDAY Snow totals across - TopicsExpress

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH EARLY MONDAY Snow totals across the region as of 10 p.m. range from 1-3 inches so far (south to north). I believe our projected storm path of the past few days remains on target to produce 4-5 inches north of the I-70 corridor, 3-4” around the city and down to US 22, but tapering off to 1-2” from Chillicothe to Athens, due to a later changeover. The potent clipper is south of Lexington, KY, and the snow will lighten up after midnight in Central Ohio, gradually tapering off to snow showers by morning. However, a sharp drop in temperature, from the mid-30s to the low 20s, will make travel hazardous across the entire region overnight. Flurries will linger into the day on Monday with gusty winds and nearly steady temperatures in the low 20s. A secondary coastal low will explode east of the Mid-Atlantic coast late Monday and dump one to two feet of snow from New York City and surrounding areas to Boston, with blizzard conditions through Tuesday near the coast. Tonight: Snow, moderate at times, accumulating 3-4” by morning (4-5” north, 2-3” south of Columbus). Expect hazardous travel conditions and increasing winds. Low near 20. Monday: Snow showers ending, very slippery and sharply colder with brisk winds. High 23. Tuesday: Clouds, snow showers (dusting). High 28 (17). Wednesday: Partly cloudy. High 30 (14). Thursday: Wintry mix late both rain and snow. High 40 (27). Friday: Flurries ending, some clearing, colder. High 30 (26). Saturday: Increasing clouds, flurry possible. High 29 (19). *A surge of bitterly cold air is looming later in the weekend, if long-range models are correct, in time for Groundhog Day.
