Here are a few for your consideration. • Going red meat free, if not totally vegetarian • Shop Seasonal, buy local, buy fresh foodstuff • Look for eco-friendly green options while buying consumer products • Look for green certified label while buying goods • Buying paper books hurts the environment and my wallet. Go to nearby local library, borrow from friends or read e-books * Adopt 5 R in your life style i.e. Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair and Recycle * SAY NO TO DISPOSABLE CROCKERY, CUTLERY, PLATES CUPS, TISSUE PAPERS PAPER NAPKINS WHENEVER ITS POSSIBLE • Support local business and local markets. • Eat fresh foods instead of packaged or factory food as far as possible • Buy only what you need and in right quantity to avoid frequent trips to market • Save energy -fuel power and gas • Save conserve and harvest water • Keep surrounding litter free and clean • keep water bodies free form litter, garbage and pollutants • Use public transport or car pool instead of private vehicles • Use bicycle or walk for short distances’ • Use energy efficient gadgets and appliances • Use Renewable le sources of energy preferred to coal or oil • Say No to Genetically Modified Foods (GMO foods) • Say no to plastics • Say no to packaged waters instead keep handy good quality reusable water bottles while outdoors • Say No to nuclear energy, Go for clean or renewable sources of energy • Use eco-friendly material and adopt green building technique for construction • Plant and save trees, and forests • Say no to firecrackers • Segregate waste and recycle • Dispose of the hazardous and non recyclable industrial waste by scientific procedure to minimize health hazard • Prefer organic to conventionally grown food • Use bio pesticides and fertilizer to conventional • Support & conserve biodiversity for sustainability
