WOD Tracking by Coach Kelly You may have noticed all the notebooks stored under the check in computer at the gym. You may have also noticed that WODbooks are currently 15% off through the end of January. What you may not have noticed though is why WOD tracking is not only important, but so vital to your success with CrossFit. Remember when we sat down during your Intro and discussed your goals? How about your Baseline WOD time? I imagine if you repeated it now there would be some improvement, but without writing it down there’s no way to know. I also imagine that you’ve made some positive steps toward achieving those original goals. Joining the best CrossFit in Chapel Hill was step 1! Unfortunately, most of you do not write down any of your numbers so it’s difficult to know how exactly you are making progress toward your goals. I write down each and every lift, WOD, success and failure because it helps me to know areas where I need improvement and to celebrate every small success. It’s also so fun to look back on a lift from 5 years ago and see what weight I used then compared to now. Not so I can see how weak I was (well, maybe) but so I can see how strong I am now! It is easy to get discouraged at times when a WOD does not go as fast as you planned or a lift was not made. Without a notebook to look back at and actually track your progress, you might start to think you’re not making progress at all or worse, that you’re losing previously made gains. It’s so easy to listen to negative self-talk and let self-doubt creep in. That’s why real numbers are helpful to keep things in perspective. Take a moment to write down some goals. Start a notebook by writing down your progress. Why do I like the WODbooks instead of a regular notebook? It has a place for me to write down all my current maxes, named WODs, baselines, diet, sleep and stress level - all important factors in my performance for each day. If you have questions about goal setting or WOD tracking, we’re happy to help! Take the first step in being accountable and post a goal for everyone to see!
