WOMEN DELIVERS TRIPLET IN SOPORE HOSPITAL SRINAGAR – A woman in North Kashmir’s Sopore town gave birth to a triplet after a successful surgery on Tuesday, medical officials said. The officials said that breaking the tradition of referral such patients to tertiary care centres, a high risk mother namely Haseena, wife of Muhammad Jamal, resident of Malpapanpora in Sopore, was operated on January 6 at Mother and Child Hospital in the town and delivered a triplet. “The mother and neonates are doing well. The surgery was performed by Dr Rakhshanda Rashid senior gynaecologist and a team of doctors,” they said. It is pertinent to mention that breaking the custom of referral of such patients to tertiary care centres has brought a respite to the patients living in far flung areas and depicts the strong commitment, zeal and enthusiasm of health department to bring a complete and effective health care to the doorstep of people, the officials added. “It is a unique surgery. The patient had already received two anesthesia and it was third. But, we managed to do it successfully,” the Block Medical Officer, Sopore, Dr Syed Masood, told GNS over phone. He added that it was the first of its kind surgery in Sopore.
