WORD OF THE DAY - OCTOBER 19 - THE STORY OF GODS REDEMPTION - READING HEBREWS CHAPTERS 5 & 6 - When we are saved, we are born again, or spiritually regenerated. That means that a new nature or a new self was born in within us! This new baby is Christs life in us that must be fed with spiritual food to grow and mature until we become Chris-like. 1 Peter 2:2 urges new belivers, Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation. In todays passage we are told to continue to feed on the Word of God and move on to solid spiritual food, that leads us towards spiritual maturity and discernment of good and evil. Spiritually mature people live holy and sanctified lives, where victory over sin and temptation becomes the norm! Hebrews 5:11-14 About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
