WORSHIP SONG for MONDAY - The idea of surrender usually brings to mind something negative, something weak. And in the worldly way of looking at it, it is because to surrender implies, losing, giving up and admitting defeat to a degree. But in the Bible there is a powerful aspect to surrender that Followers of Jesus understand. Surrendering our wills, surrendering our plans and surrendering our lives to the True and Living God isnt something negative but actually a positive. For when we surrender to God, He lifts us up. When we surrender to God, He empowers us for the journey. And when we surrender to God, we receive strength. This is taught clearly throughout the Bible and yet at times our pride, our self confidence and our arrogance keeps us from doing that which we know is right....surrendering to God. I like the way the New Testament writer named James put it....God opposes the proud but favors the humble. So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come close to God and God will come close to you. Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up in honor. Surrender brings FAVOR! Surrender results in POWER! Surrender brings INTIMACY with God and when we lay it down before HIM, He will lift us up in HONOR!
