WORSHIP SONG for MONDAY - Theres a very unique man whose story is told in the Gospel portion of the New Testament. The mans story is told in pretty brief fashion - theres not much said about him, not much said by him and honestly what is recorded is not that extensive at all. However this man made two statements that I think go in the record as two of the most powerful statements found in the Bible. The mans name is John the Baptist and he was a rough and tumble figure who dressed in animal skins, had a diet of honey and locusts and would be classified as politically incorrect by 2014 standards. His favorite word seems to be REPENT! and he didnt care who he said it to. Sad, but eventually that word got his head chopped off. But one of the two incredible statements he uttered was this....Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world! John spoke those words as a kind of formal introduction of Jesus Christ to the world and those words still ring out today for that is the message of every New Testament Church and should be the message of every Follower of Jesus. John knew Who to put the emphasis on and we should know that also. His second statement is also about Jesus and it speaks about the relationship of the Savior to the Follower. John said, HE must increase and I must decrease! What a noble and high calling that was and should be the desire of every believer today. MORE of JESUS and less of us! WAY MORE and WAY LESS! We accomplish this by realizing that we are nothing without the power of God on our lives and that JESUS deserves the glory and we do not. We accomplish it by humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God and allowing Him to exalt us in His time and according to His purpose. We accomplish it by living in the reality that HE is God, we are not, HE is good and we are not, HE is worthy and we are not. And when we do this HE, like HE did with John the Baptist, declares us to be His and empowers us with His might. And so today I echo the words of John....Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world and He must increase and I must decrease!
