WOW! Is my reaction to this Unusual? This must have been how I appeared after my TBI. Unconscious, Breathing Tube, Wires everywhere, Tape all over me, Restraints, almost naked, Unrecognizable even to my own Family. Those things didnt seem to bother me in any sense of my own dignity at all. What bothered me and hurt my heart was how I must have appeared to others and how it must have hurt my family & friends seeing me like that. It was more Traumatic to them than me I feel! I remember parts of the Rehab stuff though, cool! Not much, but the balls, the exercises and balance stuff, yes! This support, and the support I received was amazing, but how hard for them in their hearts & lives to do this, for so long! I loved how he had his favorite stuffed animal in bed with him, as I did, and his mom took it home with him, as mine did with me. My Slobber Monkey has a place of pride in my bedroom, to remind me that he was there for me through it all, everyday, and determination pulled me past needing him. Now he can just rest with love & gratitude. ~ Jeni
