WOW! This article is alarming. In Carroll County, Arkansas a young mother was murdered by her ex-boyfriend while he was out on bail awaiting trial for earlier assaults against her. Two days prior to her murder, she called police begging for their help. Despite the fact that her ex-boyfriend had violated a no-contact order and was not checking in this his probation officer as required, the police did nothing. When asked why the police/courts didnt do more to protect this woman, the Sheriff, Bob Grudek, said “The question you’re asking me is what’s wrong with the courts,” he said. “I’m asking you, what’s wrong with the women?” Grudek said domestic violence prevention should focus on why women return to their abusers, and that it wasn’t “logical or responsible” to think the criminal justice system could solve the problem. What???????
