WOW! WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE! In recent years Ive emotionally distanced myself from Colombia, the country of my birth due to the oppressive, exploitative and genocidal official policies and unofficial behavior of the oligarchic regime currently ruling that country towards the majority peasant population, union leaders and activists, student leaders, and other progressive popular social forces. Indeed, under this regime, Colombia itself has distanced itself from the growing number of increasingly progressive governments in Latin America, going in the opposite direction. For this reason, many observers and commentators have - curiously - dubbed Colombia as the Israel of Latin America. But now this? Man, Im proud of you! I see that even the crooks and oligarchs are still human enough to begin tuning in, taking note and accordingly taking action. I just hope this eventually leads to a sea change in their own relationship to and behavior towards the masses theyve been long exploiting, oppressing, excluding and even exterminating.
