WRESTLEFEST THUGANOMICS #101 This past weekend, I spent some time with some wrestlers from right here in the Bay. I mean, people tend to think that its fake, but understand this...what you tend to see as fake is pretty damn real to me. I saw it up close and personal....Four Aces had the honor of being the only crew at the Big Time Wrestling Wrestlefest. We started off with a broadcast on Friday night in which one of the BTW wrestlers, Ryan Micallef, joined in on the broadcast to talk the events for the next day. I even got the chance to meet the legendary Rock N Roll Express. These are guys who still take on this business and get many admirers...even the younger kids. The following day,it was crazy. Chris Masters aka The Masterpiece, Molly Holly, Gangrel, Papa Shango, Ezikiel Jackson, The Godfather, Bad Influence, and the legendary Ric Flair were all in artendance. During the course of that day, I got the chance to see how it was done. Even before the matches of the evening, some of the other performers such as the El Salvadorian Kaka Meng came through and talked more shit than Japanese radio in his native tongue to The Godfather about stealing his stable of hoes... Kikyo Nakamura, one of the females wrestling that evening stopped by and shared a few words about demolishing her opponent. Good times people. That evening Double K and Cole called the matches and even guest commentator, Comedian Kabir Singh got in on the action. Even the title holder Bad Ass Shane Kody gave a great performance that night. Whether or not, you are a fan, people need to relaize that these wrestlers, while entertaining you, are dealing with the day to day hustle of traveling from city to city, putting their bodies on the line. Some of the stories I had even heard will make the devil cry. These injuries can be serious. sure, there are stories that go along with these matches, but you better believe that if you dont have what it takes to get into the ring, you better be ready for some serious hurt. All in all, I had a great time. I plan on attending the next event in July. Sure, I know I do a music show, but I produce a wrestling show as well. Ive always respected this business, but after meeting the great guys and gals over at BTW, the respect increases. These folks give a great show. They are a part of The Bay in the grand scheme of things and we need to support these folks just as we support our music. Thanks to the efforts of our hosts Cole Jones and Kevin Kendrick, of The Raw Impact Unleashed along with the camera man and producer, Jay Jones, this is just the beginning.....
