WRONG EXPRESSION: Let the boy wear his shirt. CORRECT EXPRESSION: Let the boy put on his shirt. EXPLANATIONS: WEAR & PUT ON are synanymous, but they are not interchangeable in certain sentences. WEAR is used when items like SHOES, SKIRTS, PANTS & TROUSERS are worn through the LEGS or when you push yourself or any part of your body into it. e.g. It is correct to say: Wear your shoes/skirt/pant/trousers/ring. PUT ON is used when the items come through the HEAD. e.g. It is correct to say: Put on your cap/shirt/blouse. It is wrong to substitute PUT ON for WEAR in the above examples.
