WRTR Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Does my music have to be clean in order for you to play it? *No. We are an uncensored radio station. We can air tracks that use profanity. 2. How do I get my music to you? *Thats easy. Just email it to station@WRTRRealTalkRadio. 3. When I submit music, whats the turn around time for you to feature it? *Good question and it honestly depends on how many submissions that we have before yours. We get anywhere from 10-30 submission emails a week, so it may be a few weeks before your tracks are aired. Please be patient as we work through EVERY email we get. Including ones like these with questions about the show. 4. Can I send you my Soundcloud or YouTube link to play my music? *If youre too lazy to send an mp3 or an mp4, were too lazy to play it. We get a LOT of music submissions and when were gathering music to feature for the week, we dont have time to search all over the internet trying to find your music. Make it easier for us all and include an mp3. 5. I heard yall allow people to guest host and that yall do interviews. Whats the difference? *Usually, we do interviews via phone. Because our interviews are aired on our syndicated show, we like to prerecord them. Guest hosting spots are where we have someone guest host with us during the LIVE show on Saturdays at 12 noon. Those spots are few. 6. How much do you charge for an interview? *Charge? No. Not sure who youve previously dealt with but WRTR doesnt charge for a mere interview. We believe VERY much in supporting talent. We do not charge for interviews. We realize that up and coming artists are just trying to expand their brands. We support that! But please be patient, as we get tons of requests. 7. How do I contact yall regarding interviews? *Just send us an email: station@WRTRRealTalkRadio We ask that you familiarize yourself with our show (by listening to it) before coming on it. 8. When I come on your show as a guest, can I bring anyone? *This is a radio show, not a club. An entourage of people isnt necessary for you to be on air. We usually allow you and ONE guest. Being an artist is a JOB-- do you take an entourage with you to work? 9. How many people do yall allow on the show at once? *We usually only allow 1-2 guests at a time. On RARE cases, we allow more. Why? Because when you have several different people talking on the mic at once, it sounds like CRAP on-air and it often confuses the listener. Besides, if the purpose is to showcase talent, how can the artist stand out if youre herding people in like cattle? We want the INDIVIDUAL artist to get as much exposure as possible. 10. If yall support indie talent, how come I hear already established and mainstream artists and actors on your station? *Just like youre trying to grow in your craft, so are we. So we often have mainstream talent on the show as well. Were blessed to have a platform that supports BOTH independent (up and coming) and mainstream talent. Youre all talented in our eyes! 11. Do you pay royalties when our music is played? *WRTR is registered with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC & SOCAN. If you are a registered artist with one of these PROs, then yes, you will be compensated for on-air spins. 12. If my music isnt registered with a PRO, will you still play it? *We would PREFER to work with SERIOUS artists that take advantage of the benefits of having their music registered. After all, you do realize that if your music isnt registered, your ideas, lyrics and beats can be stolen from those that have their registration, right?! But yes, well play it. But it probably wont make it into rotation. 13. What kind of stuff do yall discuss on WRTR? *We talk about anything from booty calls to bureaucrats. Were an uncensored comedy internet radio station that believes in the concept of edutainment: (education & entertainment). Some of our topics are silly, some are a little more serious and there are others that are down-right controversial. Guess you have to tune in from week-to-week and see! We promise you a laugh! 14. What does WRTR stand for? *Washingtons Real Talk Radio 15. Ive never heard your show but would like some information on how to get shout outs or advertisements with your station. *Wait... what? So youve never took an opportunity to research the brand that you supposedly want to do business with? Who does that? Not only is it insulting but what if we were on-air slandering the very crowd that your business caters to? Probably wouldnt be a good look for your business, huh? People, please stop hearing the words radio show and getting excited. Take an opportunity to research the brands you wish to do business with. So, no. We would prefer not to do business with YOU. Were serious about moving forward and wish to do business with like-minded entities. Not on a whim. 16. I recently had a guest hosting spot/ interview on WRTR and I missed it. May I reschedule? *No. We thank you for your interest, but no, we cannot reschedule. Please understand that a lot of work is done to prepare a show to feature an artist. When someone doesnt show, it makes more of a problem than you may see. Besides, our schedule is pretty tight and we get tons of requests. The slot that you slept on couldve been an opportunity for someone else a little more eager to do business. We only ask that you give us the respect that we gave you. After all, we made you a priority; its not too much to ask that you do the same. 17. How many listeners do yall really have? *Honestly, the number is somewhere in the mid-thousands... and growing. And we cater to many different time zones so that more of our listeners can hear the show... that are OUTSIDE of just DC. 18. What genres of music do you all play and take submissions for? *We are primarily urban. So... Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, Pop, Go-Go... on occasion, well even throw in some gospel or alternative music to keep you on your toes. We even featured this west coast rock band one time.
