WTC Team Ireland 2015 Team Selection Process This post is to ensure that everybody understands the WTC team selection and has a chance to put themselves forward to play. I’d also like to remind you all that due to the event being hosted in Ireland this year there are other opportunities to participate in this event outside of team membership. So if you don’t get a spot on the team please consider attending solo masters or better yet, helping out with the running of the event. This is a great opportunity for the Irish wargaming scene and one that we can all contribute towards making a fantastic success! The Process A) Players express interest for team member in this thread. Reply below after reading the entire post. As per WTC rules members should be living in Ireland at the time of application. Anybody seeking an exception please contact a member of the WTC committee directly. B) Selection committee decides which players will join the team. Members of the committee are: WTC 2015 Ireland Team Captains Patrick Dunford Phil Johnston WTC 2015 Hosts (not playing in a team) Owen Conlan Gerry Nolan Ciaran Bolger C) Members of the committee will attend competitive events up to and including Irish Masters. At these events they will observe interested players and record their performance. After Irish Masters the team will be selected and announced. D) Events in which a committee member will be present: Gaelcon Northern Irish Masters Warpcon Smogcon Irish Masters +Any local steamroller events in Gamer’s World Dublin or Other Realms Cork. E) There are 5 performance criteria recorded: 1. Game Skill - Time management and scenario mastery 2. Model Use - Spacing, placement and effective use of models 3. Meta Knowledge - List selection and construction, as well as familiarity with opponents’ lists 4. Reliability - How consistent is the player in maximising every match-up 5. Sportsmanship - How they comport themselves in and out of the game F) The 8 players who score highest in the above criteria will be offered spots on the team. Should they decline offers will be given to players with the best scores below them. After both teams are decided players who were not selected will be offered the choice to be added to the list as an alternate should a team member need to be replaced. The committee reserves the right to tweak this process if faction choices would make it impractical to group players in the same team. For example, it is literally impossible for 3 Convergence of Cyriss players to be on the same team under current WTC rules. Expectations of Team Members As a team member you are expected to represent Ireland in the best possible way. This means conducting yourself in a respectful and friendly manner, displaying excellent sportsmanship and having a high level of game skill. You are also expected to practice with your team as often as possible leading up to the event in October. There are many European conventions and tournaments that Ireland will be making a showing at this year and you should be willing to travel to at least some of these. Finally, you are expected to communicate openly and often about your lists and strategies with your team mates. Be receptive to feedback and committed to self-improvement. Help your fellow team mates whenever possible and be a great a team player. Thats it! Interested in joining the team? Say so below! Want to help run the event? Contact a committee member! Want to play in solo masters? Wait for now and keep an eye on the WTC page next year.
