WTF? Okay, spousal abuse was a no brainer issue- NO ONE can come out in defense of that, and rightfully so. Unfortunately, on this AP issue, I can just SEE the crazies come out of the woodwork to say something along the lines of My daddy whooped me when I was a young-un- and lemme tell ya somethin- Im a better man for it!! I witnessed a GROWN MAN say this to Robert Gates at a lecture that Gates was speaking at. The nods of assent from the audience made me want to vomit and quite frankly, scared the shit out of me. Hitting a child is insane. If you cant control your child with words- then you arent paying enough attention to the child or you need to read a book or two on discipline. No- I dont have children...and yes, I can imagine they can act like little sociopaths from time to time....but thats because they are CHILDREN people! They dont know the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Or, maybe they know the difference, but dont understand and cant comprehend the consequences of their actions. This whole NFL thing is starting to become not really about the NFL. Its become a lightning rod, if you will, on our society to collectively define and codify what is and what isnt acceptable and appropriate moral human behavior in these modern times.
