Waikapu Store. I remember stopping here to drink sodas and eat ice cream when we rode our old heavy one speed cruiser bikes from Lahaina to Wailuku and Kahului and back to Lahaina the same day. The bike ride from the Pali to Waikapu was the worst because of the headwind and the slight uphill and we rode slowly and never walked and pushed our heavy bikes. The ride from Waikapu to the Pali was the fast and fun since it was downhill and the wind just pushed us along. We did not wear shoes and went barefoot or wore rubbah slippahs. It was safer in those days since traffic was low and not suicidal like today. We never had any tools, flat repair kits, tire pumps, chain repair tools, etc if there was a mechanical problem. No sunglasses. Geezzzz!!!!!
