Wake up Malaysia! What are we really fighting? - we are combatting the forces of globalization and climate change - all humanity is threatened - we are combatting temperature rises, melting polar caps, and rising sea levels causing desertification and salinization of land - we are combatting extreme weathers, earthquakes, and tsunamis - thousands are dying and millions are displaced - we are combatting prolonged droughts, floods and much reduced food crops and harvests - we are combatting the haze, the water shortage and collapsing fisheries due to polluted rivers and oceans - we are combatting big business using all kinds of economic instruments and strategies to control the economies of the world, squeezing out the actual producers of food and labour - we are combatting corruption, cronyism, and bad governance - We are combatting injustice, oppression and poverty - we are combatting the problems of ethnic cleansing in many parts of the world - we are combatting the attitudes of selfishness, greed and limitless consumerism - we are combatting the breakdown of marriages, of families and societies - we are combatting ignorance, neglect and excuses #==> we are facing a soon to be lawless and broken society and a degraded planet Who suffers? - The planet, the people (our future generation), the animals, and all living things Who benefits? - no one, nothing in the long run So why are we doing this? - because of short term gain in power, pleasure and wealth - because we are blind, deaf and mute - because we are brain dead, brain washed or brain bashed How can we rise above these? - through caring for people and planet - through love and sacrifice for spouses, children, extended family, neighbors and friends - through justice, fairness and equality - through reining in our consumerism, our accumulation and competition - through generosity, kindness and turning the other cheek - through taking responsibility for ourselves, our attitudes and our demands - through true spirituality of seeking God and His ways of love, peace, joy and hope
