Walk softly and quietly in your quest for peace. Remember there is peace in silence. Be on good terms with all of mankind. You need not surrender good for evil to satisfy anyone. The good work you do for others will more than overshadow the mistakes you may have made. Speak kindly of all people as there is good in all people. Listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Do not compare yourself with people less fortunate than yourself as you may become vain and bitter. If you add fuel to a small flame of bitterness, it can turn into a great flame of hatred and in turn shrivel all of your own inner beauty and goodness. Be satisfied in the work the Great Spirit delegated to you however humble it may be. Each of us have our own place in this world and each one must fill that space and carry the load that we must share. Be continuous in your forward progress, even as you seek guidance from the Great Spirit. In the paths of life we must each follow, are many pitfalls in which we may easily fall: Do not be blinded by evil spirits for they are full of tricks. Be yourself always, do not feign affection where you may feel animosity. Be not cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as all creation. Hear kindly the counsel of your elder and submit gracefully the things of your youth. Preserve your strength of spirit to protect you from sudden misfortune. Be not distressed over your shortcomings but be bold in your approach to problems. Many fears are born in our moments of loneliness, but were not ever really alone as the Great Spirit is always with us. Do not be mean and vicious with yourself, but be kind and gentle. You are a child of the universe no less than than the life of the animals, birds, fish, and all living organisms that the Great Spirit saw fit to breathe into. So, be at peace with all the the Great Spirit has given us. Strive to be happy and in all things, again I say, walk softly...........this was written by my grandpa Ike Greensky many years ago.
