Walked the Sundew Trail in the Big Thicket Preserve for the first - TopicsExpress

Walked the Sundew Trail in the Big Thicket Preserve for the first time today. Short hike, only about 35 minutes from home. Was hoping for Henslows Sparrow, which has been reported there in the past. The wet pine savanna looked good, but no green-headed ghosts....I did flush out one little UFO, but he immediately took cover and disappeared. A quiet walk, even the one Song Sparrow I saw didnt have anything to say. Habitat looks right for Red-cockaded Woodpecker and Bachmans Sparrow, probably none in the neighborhood but definitely worth another visit. First time Ive seen pitcher plants outside California.
