Walker signs contract extension Adam Walker has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the red and whites until the end of 2017. The 22-year-old joined the Robins last winter from the Huddersfield Giants on a three-year deal and became an instant favourite with Rovers’ supporters thanks to a string of impressive displays. One of the most consistent performers for the side during 2013, Walker made 27 appearances and was rewarded for that consistency as he picked up the Robins’ Young Player of the Year award, whilst also coming runner-up in the Players’ Player of the Year. On the back of such an impressive debut campaign the club have moved quickly to tie him to an extra two years in east Hull and Walker is delighted that his future lies in a red and white shirt. “I couldn’t be happier,” he said. “With me having two years left on my original deal I wasn’t even thinking about an extension really. My only focus has been to try and play well every week and keep improving. “The club came to me about extending my contract and it was an easy decision for me to make as I’m loving it at Hull KR. We had a good season in 2013 and have made some impressive signings for next season so hopefully we can improve again. “On a personal note it was also a good year for me as I came here to play week in, week out and have managed to do that. Picking up the Young Player of the Year award was a pleasant surprise as I wasn’t really expecting it. It was also great to finish as the runner-up in the Players’ Player as it’s your colleagues who vote for that.
