Walking calmly up driveway, loose reins, horse looking around - TopicsExpress

Walking calmly up driveway, loose reins, horse looking around casually, swishes tail... Tail clamps. Head shoots up, ears back, neck rigid. As I attempt to - calmly but with haste - gather my reins, horse rockets forward like the Millenium Falcon going into light speed, wind blinding me as the back end explodes in a volley of kicks, then more tail clamping & rapid acceleration. Clearly a leopard has attached itself to a hock, I think. No. As we pull up (read brake into a large brick wall) I see a stick entwined in the tail - so the more the tail clamps, the more we get poked in the ass, when we kick it we get smacked, and when we run it follows us. Nerves shot. What natural predators could these things possibly have in wild?! Tigers be like, Did you guys see that? Ill just catch me an old sickly gnu for supper, thanks.
