Walking in Istanbul near Taksim Square in a dark alley we heard Get Your Kicks (on Rt. 66) coming from high above us. After some searching we found an unmarked open door and climbed up 6 stories of stairs to discover a little (I mean tiny) rooftop bar. A hot band with a Turkish crooner singing in sparkling English covered the great American Songbook with a charm and smokey desire. The Bosphorus breeze cleared any smoke and the almost half moon lit the scene through the open-air roof. A treasured Istanbul moment with my honey.
