Walter Winship Felt: Born October 3, 1921 at Galesburg, Illinois. He was descended from early colonists in the Boston area who fought at Lexington and Concord. A graduate of Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, class of 1942 with a degree in Chemistry, He fought in the South Pacific during World War II as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army, and particip ated in the liberation of the Philippines. After working as a process chemist, salesman and sales manager for chemical manufacturing firms in the West and Midwest, he founded and operated Detergents, Inc., a detergent manufacturing company in Los Angeles area from 1970 to 1984. In recent years he designed and built detergent factories in Utah, Ohio and California. He was the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Oil Chemist Society and a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. his family: brother James Felt, and sister Kathy Felt Armstrong; his wife, Sandra; his children, Judith Burson, Thomas Felt, Margaret Parker, David Felt Lawrence, Melissa, Shondra, Joseph and Joshua; and 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
