Want a great memory tip for enhancing your outdoor experiences? Just remember the 5 Cs! They pertain to items you should always have on hand or know how to improvise whilst in the bush to meet your basic needs. These are: Container: water is crucial for your survival in the woods. Be sure to identify a suitable container for gathering water with the resources Mother Nature provides us with. Cutting tool: fire, shelter, nutrition, equipment.. you name it, just one good cutting tool (along with the expert knowledge we passionately teach!) will help to provide them all. Combustion: controlling the bodys thermo regulation is necessary to keep you alive in the colder seasons, and a fire is mandatory for this. Finding fuel in the warmer months is a piece of cake, but what about in snowy, wet or stormy conditions? What about when youre in a hypothermic state? The fuel is provided for you, you just have to know how to use it to your advantage! Cordage: good quality rope and string combined with the knot-knowledge to make it do whatever you need it to is a life-saver. And if you dont have any....youd better know how to make some! Cover: shelter is a must in the bush to keep you protected from the elements and create a microclimate. An inexpensive tarp can go a much longer way in the bush than you would imagine. For a more detailed memory refresher, check out CTVs interview with our head instructor Nick Buck, filmed only weeks ago! Youll find the link on our Facebook page. We go into the 5 Cs, and many more tips, in greater detail on our Basic & Advanced Survival Training and Bushcraft Courses. We love to provide others with the proper knowledge that allows you to not only stay alive in the bush, but to enjoy yourself as well. Please feel free to hit like or leave a comment on our Facebook page. Have fun and be safe out there! ;)
