Wanted to share my post from This morning. May it give light during a dark time: Yesterday I had a chance to talk to one of my elders and I brought up my feelings about this horrible tragedy that has taken Alejandro away from his family and from us. Anger is justified and is a normal human reaction when an injustice occurs. Its the fire that gives birth to movements and knowing how to keep that fire going is important in keeping a movement alive and strong. But she mentioned to remember and be careful of the difference between fire starters and the fire keepers. Fire Starters make the fire blaze out of control and its dangerous. Many can get hurt and burned in the process. Fire Keepers control and take care of the fire. They make sure that it keeps burning in a consistent and safe way. They make sure that all the passion and the fervor burns and is kept alive for the struggle.They are careful and are always tending to the fire so it doesnt burn out of control. I have to remember to be a fire keeper because its hard not to be enraged. We are all hurting and are angry but we have to remember to protect our spirit from the negative energy that this generates and to take care of his family. Look out for his mom and dad. See what they need. May anger and hatred not consume us, burn us. Paz con Justicia. Praying for guidance,light and clarity.
