Wanted to share one of my devotional readings today. It made me smile as I think about the things we really need to be doing this Christmas season. Lets be keepers of peace in a world full of evil because there is HOPE and it comes in the name of Jesus! While I wish that everyone would be happy this holiday season, I know some people struggle during this time. Today I am praying that anyone who is suffering or is unhappy right now is able to find comfort and peace. Im sure it is such a lonely, isolating feeling to not feel festive and joyous when others around you seem to be. Its easy to get overwhelmed and many people are depressed during the holidays. I pray that anyone struggling in this way will find light in the promise of Jesus. As we bustle around in our busy days, lets not forget those who may not be enjoying this time and reach out to them. Lets share the good news and show love to everyone we come across. 💕🙏 **************************************** Herald: A person who carries or proclaims important news; a messenger. Hark: To listen attentively So many songs in my history have been just that, songs that we sang about the Glory of God and about the anticipated arrival of the baby Jesus. Honestly, a lot of the language in these old classics was lost on me until we decided to record “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing”. I decided maybe it was time for me to look into what the title of the song meant. So away I went to the dictionary and guess what I found out? The title of the song literally means “Listen attentively…. An angel that carries important news is singing”. After all of my years of singing the song I had never thought about what the title even meant. Luke chapter 2 verses 8 -14 delivers the account of what the angels actually sang … So many years of waiting for the prophecy of a savior to be fulfilled and finally it has happened. What are the words that God chooses to speak through his Herald Angels? GLORY TO GOD, PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN. Do you need a little peace? Do you need a little good will? Isn’t it interesting that God sent his messengers to do 3 things… Give GLORY TO GOD, tell the world that the savior has come to bring peace on earth, and remind them the God was FOR THEM… not against them. So what are we being called to do this Christmas season? It seems that we are to give Glory to God by being keepers, even purveyors of peace, and Heralds of the good news that all is not lost, that there is hope, and his name is Jesus…. OH and just in case you’ve ever heard anything to the contrary, HE IS FOR YOU. So go tell the world. Be the messenger. Be the Hope… and give all the Glory to God. youtu.be/19w0IHPL4X0
