Wants News From Home S 1-C V.L. Howard, temporarily at Treasure Island, CA, after several months at sea on a navy ship, has written his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Howard of Gaylord, how much he appreciates getting news from home. He read the Herald when he gets it, from front to back even including Tuty’s Beauty Shop ads, he says, and asks his folks to send him the home paper regularly. Anther son of the Howard’s, Clarence who has been employed as a passenger bus driver out of Seattle, by the Washington Motor Coach Company has been resigned his position and enlisted in the Naval Construction Battalion as a machinist mate first class. He is to report for duty Sept. 17th, and expects to be shipped to Norfolk, VA, for training. Myrtle Point Herald September 16, 1943
