This development is a fallout of internal wrangling in the party, following complains of marginalization by some aggrieved ACN Chieftains in Imo APC who have severally lamented that they have not been carried along in the party by Governor Rochas Okorocha. Trumpeta learnt that the aggrieved members have disowned the Prince Marshal Okafor Anyanwu led state executives to constitute another state executive headed by Mazi Nati Iwuagwu (Chairman) and Chief Ahamefule Ibekwe. In a communiqué endorsed by the duo and made available to Trumpeta, the state interim officers will immediately constitute and inaugurate members of similar committees both at the local Governments, wards, and polling unit levels. Part of the communiqué reads “That under the provisions of the Electoral Act on merger of political parties, only the members of the merged parties (ACN, CPC and ANPP) are the legal and automatic members of APC for now. No fresh registration has taken place in the APC, or could legally have taken place in the APC Imo State, or elsewhere in the country since 31st August, 2013”. The communiqué continued “The meeting frowned at the audacity with which the confessional members, namely the “APGA REBELS”, who are in our midst are trying to hijack the party at the state, LGA and ward levels with impunity, and they are hereby warned to stop the arbitrary constitution of interim officers of the party at all levels”. The composition of a new state exco of the APC in Imo is an offshoot of dissent in the ranks of some stalwarts of the defunct ACN in the party. Trumpeta learnt that there has been uproar against Okorocha for deliberating refusing to carry ACN stalwarts in the APC along. They cite the composition of the State Executive Council in Imo without an ACN member, an allegation sharply dispelled by another faction of the ACN member, involved in the merger. According to Chris Oguoma, Secretary of the defunct ACN in Imo State, ACN remains intact in APC, nothing has changed. “Anyone who feels aggrieved with the party is free to go. It does not imply ACN in Imo APC is leaving APC. We are intact.”
