Warning - Rant ahead: I am so sad to share this thought, but I am confident that texting and driving will kill someone today. On the way to the office this AM, on the US31 bypass, I had a semi next to me drift off the road to the right then swerve and over correct and come back into my lane. The cause...the driver was texting with their phone. When I exited the bypass at my work exit I was behind two drivers that remained stationary through the green light...texting. When I tapped my horn the first driver in line drove through the now red light, the 2nd driver in line - a gray Ford Flex continued the furious text battle through the red light and into the next green light. This is when the horn was applied again. As we proceeded on our way I also needed to bleet the horn as the Ford Flex driver swerved off the road to the right and almost hit a bicyclist. The driver then drove straight on a curve almost hitting the center divider wall. Eventually the driver got the dual activity of driving and texting under control to where there were only minimal instances of drifting over the center line and over correcting on the road. Do me a huge favor, pretty please, if you cant avoid texting while driving...put the phone in the trunk where you cant touch it. If youre too stupid to realize that youre going to kill yourself, or some innocent person on the road with you, you need to be separated from your phone in order to save humanity from your overwhelming stupidity.
