Warning - very distressing story; The RSPCA is appealing for information after a young cat was found hanging from a wooden beam in a disused garage in London. Sono, a male six month-old white cat, was found dead at 9am Thursday morning (15 May) in the run-down building in Christchurch Close, Wimbledon. He was spotted by a neighbour who was putting out the bins in the alleyway behind their house, and looked up to see the horrific sight. There was a brown cord attached to the beam in the garage at one end, with the other end tied around the cat’s neck. RSPCA inspector Mike Beaman said: “This was a callous, macabre and incredibly distressing incident and one which is very upsetting for the family of the poor cat. “This was a truly horrible as well as pointless way for Sono to die - he must have suffered immense pain and distress in his final moments. “We urge anyone who knows anything at all about this terrible incident to come forward and let us know. “Whoever did this is obviously capable of great cruelty and I want to do anything I can to stop them doing this again.” It is not known when the incident took place and the neighbours said they did not hear anything the night before. Sono had last been seen around 7pm Wednesday, after that the owners had believed him asleep in their daughter’s bedroom. Anyone with any information should call 0300 123 8018 in complete confidence.
