Warning. Controversial post incoming. So who exactly is Dave Fontenot and why does the hacker community essentially worship him? From what I know is that he essentially rejuvenated the college hackathon community but that is it. He travels from hackathon to hackathon and does he ever win? Did he drop out of college to purely to make it to every hackathon out there or is he running a startup as well? As a member that is relatively new to the hackathon circuit, I’ve only ever participated in greylock, I don’t know much about this mythological creature that is Dave. I also imagine I am not the only one who has these same questions. I give him credit for rejuvenating the hackathon lifestyle but is that purely the reason he is so respected? There has to be more and the new hackers out there just don’t know the full story. So I am calling out THE Dave Fontenot to write a Medium summarizing his journey from his first MHacks to now. note: deleted previous post cause it was so controversial, but I am gonna just let it play out
