Warning: Rant To my out of state friends: In my humble opinion, it is time for FL to wake up. This paper is from out of state (Baltimore) and once more, a comment on our state government. Its a long article but if you read it, you will get a picture of what we are up against here. I can tell you that the voting environment has not improved - a judge has ordered re-drawing of districts that were re-drawn after the last election to favor one party over the other. Locally, they have made it harder to vote. My closest early voting place is 9.5 mi from my home. Previously, I drove 4.5 mi. That office is now closed. Maybe because it was a hub of activity for registering voters for the last election. Many of the people serviced by the latter location are people who dont have cars - now they have even farther to go. In 2012, I knew family who stood in line more than 5 hours to vote, only to have their vote thrown out - I suspect because someone on the rolls had a similar name (I looked). So now they have also reduced early voting days, which you would think would make the lines longer. But since this is a mid-term election, the lines probably wont be as long and they will spin it as they dont need more early voting days. In addition to a corrupt governor, we also have an attorney general up for re-election, Pam Bondi, who refuses to let our citizens have the equal right of marriage - this from a woman who has been married 3 times. Really? Is that what the sanctity of marriage is? Sorry for this long post but I am rollin this morning. If it werent for these things, stand your ground and this ungodly heat/humidity, I might reconsider...no, probably not. baltimorepostexaminer/rick-scotts-tactics-finally-catch/2014/07/28
