Warning: long post! As I begin 2015, I wanted to have a verse that could serve as theme for me this year. Something I can really meditate on and apply throughout the year. 2012-2014 have been the hardest years of my life but also have contained some of my biggest blessings. Ive been the closer to The Lord than ever before and then sometimes felt as though I was no where near Him. During my quiet time with God, He led to me this set of verses (Philippians 4:11-13). Sometimes we use Phil 4:13 (I can do all things through Christ..) as this cliche all about me verse like it actually centers around us at all. When Paul wrote those words, He was in prison. He was suffering. In the verses before, He talks about contentment and that he has been in the very best and worst circumstances. Phil 4:13 is a scripture of contentment. One of truly relying on The Lord despite your circumstances. Sometimes, I have asked Him for things and the answer was no. Sometimes, I tried something and gave it my all and failed. Does that mean Phil 4:13 is a lie? No, it means if Im fully relying and abiding in Him, then it doesnt matter. I can be content in all things. This is not easy and I have not mastered it. There are some circumstances in my life that I dont like., that are out of my control but through Christ who gives me strength, I can carry on with joy and contentment. So Phil 4:13 is my theme for this year but with not the cliche meaning. Its not about me and what I do or dont accomplish in 2015. Its all about Him. Am I doing what He wants? Am I content with Him alone? I read from Daniels bible this morning. I love doing that because I love seeing where he has studied and I learn from his notes. I think he summed it up pretty well..
