Warning: this post blurs the line between work and play. I stopped managing Augie March around the time they took a break from being Augie March. In the five years that followed, although I missed them, I did not miss being a band manager. Other band managers would ask whats it like? as though I had cracked through to The Other Side. It was pretty great actually! Instead of spending my weekends in airport lounges or dressing rooms Id spend them with my family, pottering around the house, or playing cricket. Actually mainly playing cricket come to think of it. After a few years, when members of the band started talk of making a new album, i was very clear: nope, I cant be involved, my life doesnt have any room for this, sorry and I set myself to being a fan from the sidelines. but yes Id love to hear the music of course. The songs started trickling through in demo form, and then band form. I started to have mixed feelings. I asked other managers advice. Mostly they said you got out, stay out, are you crazy?? which was no reflection on Augies, just on the nature of band management. But. THE SONGS. THE SOOOONNNGGGSSS. And so here we are, and Im fully back in the saddle, and loving it. This is one of those songs. https://soundcloud/augiemarch/definitive-history
