Warnock is ready to step up to the plate The best performing Independent in the Longford Electoral Area, Gerry Warnock (currently on 751 votes - the quota is 816 and no one has been elected thus far), has said, “The people of Longford are looking for strong representation and an Independent voice. I’m not going into the Council and promising them the sun, moon and the stars, but I have promised that I will work for them and bring their issues to the fore. I have been put there by the people for the people. I’m going to have to step up to the plate now.” The outgoing Longford Town Councillor, who was co-opted onto the Council in May, 2011 following the retirement of his father Christy, added, “I think my vote is a reflection of the work that I have been doing on behalf of the people over the last three years.”
