Warren County Department of Fire & Rescue press release. 7th Annual Fire Prevention Event for Fire Prevention Week 2014 October 5th - 11th is this years Fire Prevention Week with the theme of Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives - Test Yours Every Month!. To promote fire prevention week and the importance of home fire safety, the Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services will be hosting its 7th Annual Fire Prevention Kick-Off Event on Sunday October 5th. The event will take place at the Front Royal Volunteer Fire Department at 221 North Commerce Avenue in Front Royal. This event will be open to the public at 10:00am and continue in till 3:00pm. Our goal is to promote and demonstrate the importance of practicing home fire safety techniques to reduce the number of preventable fires; fire injures, and fire deaths. This event will include two live fire demonstrations of a bedroom mock-up and a family room style mock-up to show the fast progression of a small, innocent fire and benefits of home fire safety. In addition, other demonstrations will include; Creating a Fire Escape Plan Practicing EDITH, Exit-Drills-In-The-Home How to properly Stop, Drop, and Roll Using and the importance of Home Fire Extinguishers Crawling Low under Smoke Properly Testing and Maintaining Home Smoke Alarms and many more…….. This goal is not only demonstrate and promote home fire prevention, but also the services offered by the local Warren County Fire and Rescue Companies. This event will be free to the public and free food and beverages will be available to the public while in attendance. Also, on Sunday, October 12, Warren County Station 6 will be holding an Open House from 11 through 3PM. Apparatus demos, station tours, etc. including refreshments.
